Exhibition
The Feast of the Other
In The Vegetarian, the Nobel Prize-winning work, Han Kang uses delicate language to depict many thought-provoking images. Her writing cannot help but awaken readers' desire to imagine these images and create.
This exhibition centers on Han Kang's The Vegetarian. Through works by Beijing Academy students, graduates of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and artists, it responds to this desire to create. It tells the story of an 'other' who, after being marginalized by society, awakens to the self, rejects injustice, and ultimately actively resists. At its conclusion, the exhibition also reflects on the behavior of society and of others, encouraging visitors to consider the reasons behind the tragedies experienced by marginalized groups.
The exhibition is divided into three sections: Buds Waiting to Bloom, Bamboo Shoots After the Rain, and Tangled Roots. It brings together a variety of art forms, including painting, installation, and moving images. Through the visual language of the works, we hope to give tangible form to the writing, allowing visitors to understand more directly those who suffer social injustice and to experience a moving sense of resonance.
