Facing a stray cat, I always feel a bit of contradiction, as if both helplessness and hopefulness appear in their eyes at the same time. Perhaps they have found their own ways to live a wild and fulfilling life in the chaos, or maybe they feel lost and scared. However, even if they could feel anxieties, they wouldn't be in the state of living through days with "lies, bowings, scrapings, fluency and servility ," nor would they be "chained to one spot, one hour, one chair," and I suppose that's the exact reason why they always seem so fascinating to observe.
